The volume of services provided fell 0.4% in August compared to July, in the seasonally adjusted series, according to data from the Monthly Services Survey, reported this Friday, 11th, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In the previous month, the indicator’s result was revised from an increase of 1.2% to an increase of 0.2%%.
August’s result was equivalent to the bottom of analysts’ estimates heard by Projeções Broadcast, which predicted a drop of 0.4% to an increase of 1.1%, with a positive median of 0.1%.
In comparison with August of the previous year, there was an increase of 1.7% in August 2024, already discounting the effect of inflation. In this comparison, forecasts were for an increase of 2.8% to 5.0%, with a positive median of 3.6%.
The accumulated rate for the year – which is based on comparison with the same period of the previous year – was an increase of 2.7%. In 12 months, services accumulated an increase of 1.9%.
The services sector’s nominal gross revenue rose 0.1% in August compared to July. Compared to August 2023, there was an increase of 7.5% in nominal revenue.
