Volt expels MP Nilüfer Gündogan from faction after thirteen reports, also about pawing and ‘unwanted sexual advances’
Nilüfer Gündogan has to leave the group after thirteen reports, including pawing and “unwanted sexual advances”, party leader Laurens Dassen reported in a statement he just tweeted.
“The integrity agency engaged by us has received thirteen reports of transgressive behavior by Nilüfer Gundogan and has spoken with a total of sixteen people,” Volt’s statement read.
After her suspension, Gündogan sought legal assistance from lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops and filed summary proceedings against her suspension from the faction, which would be filed at the court in Amsterdam on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Within the party it was already suggested this week that it would be ‘not in Nilüfer’s interest’ to let the summary proceedings go ahead. Gündogan previously stated that it would concern one complaint and that there was a labor dispute. Volt said at the time that it was ‘multiple reports from several people’.
Since Volt expelled from the party on February 13, some 200 members canceled their membership. The party board says that 80 members were added during the same period. Volt has built up a membership base of 13,000 members since its inception in 2018.
