State Duma Speaker Volodin considers artificial price increases under sanctions unacceptable
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called artificial price increases under the guise of sanctions unacceptable when it comes to products that are produced and consumed in Russia. He wrote about this in his Telegram-channel.
At the same time, he admitted that in the context of sanctions against Russia, some goods in the country may rise in price. “For example, due to an increase in the exchange rate or interruptions in supplies from other states,” he explained.
According to Volodin, Russian suppliers have the necessary stocks of goods, there is no shortage, so in this case, the price increase is unreasonable.
Volodin said that on March 10, at the plenary session of the State Duma, this issue would be discussed with the participation of the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service. “We plan to conduct an analysis of the entire chain – from production to the sale of goods – in order to identify facts of unjustified price increases. Preying on people is unacceptable, it is necessary to punish for this, ”he stressed.
Earlier it was reported that the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) agreed with the largest grocery retailers to limit prices. Auchan, ATAK, Okay and Magnit will set a markup limit of 5 percent. This decision was made jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
