Sammelvuo piloted the Russian volleyball team to Olympic silver.
Russian head coach of the men’s volleyball national team Tuomas Sammelvuo has been elected Coach of the Year. He piloted Russia for silver at the Tokyo Olympics in August.
France took the five-round final match. Sammelvuu became the first Finnish coach to lead his team to the Olympic medals in the ball sport.

In addition to success, Sammelvu’s way of coaching is reflected in many other ways.
“The look of the Russian national team has clearly changed. The good team spirit can be seen in the performance, and the players praise their head coach without hindrance, ”Chairman of the Finnish Coaches Jorma Kemppainen says in a press release.
After a long and deserving career as a player, Sammelvuo served as the head coach of the Finnish men’s national team in 2013–19 before being hired by the Russian national team.
