Volleyball|Excluded from the national team, the top libero presents his latest achievement on Instagram.
Volleyball player Lauri Kerminen is still comfortable in Russia, even though the country has been waging the war of aggression it started in Ukraine for two and a half years. He doesn’t seem to be ashamed of it either, and has posted a picture of his latest achievement.
Kerminen, 31, who plays as a libero, represents Dinamo Moscow, to which he moved from another Russian club, Kemerovo, in 2020.
Kerminen was about to win the Russian championship in 2022, after which he announced in an interview with STT that he wanted to leave Russia after the war started, but “an order from a higher authority” prevented the intentions of the top libero from Suonejoki.
“The intention was to cancel the contract and return to Finland. I first contacted my manager and we went over things. Next, I went to the president and GM of the club to ask to cancel the contract. They gave the green light, which is why I went to the hall the next day to sign the contract,” Kerminen said at the time.
In July of the same year, the Finnish Volleyball Federation announced that Kerminen had been sidelined from the national team because he was negotiating a new contract with the Russian league. A month later, the libero’s new contract with Dinamo Moscow was announced.
Kerminen is still continuing his career in Russia and will undoubtedly also receive a sack of rubles for his contribution.
Now Kerminen and Dinamo have won the Cup of Legends competition, and Kerminen presents the victory trophy and medal.
