The new Volkswagen SUV coupé is called Taigo, built on the Mqb platform that will flank the T-Cross and T-Roc. It will arrive in the first quarter of 2022
426 cm long, 149 cm high and 175 cm wide, with a wheelbase of 256 cm, the Volkswagen Taigo is the “sister” of the T-Cross since it is engineered on the same platform. The main feature of the line is the coupé tail, which gives the bodywork momentum. Overall, the Taigo is characterized by smooth shapes with few stylistic licenses, except for the ribs on the bonnet and doors, which are reminiscent of those of the Polo. The raw plastic wheel arches protect the bodywork from scratches, giving the car that off-road tone. The front is technological, where there are the Matrix IQ.Light led headlights (standard in the richer set-ups) connected to each other by a led line. We also find the same motif at the rear where the two lights are set inside a burnished profile. Good load capacity, which stands at 438 liters.
taigo, engines from 90 to 150 hp
The engines are practically the same as those found on the Polo. The engines are in fact all petrol ranging from 90 to 150 hp. The starting engine is the 95 hp “thousand” three-cylinder Tsi, which can only be combined with the five-speed manual. Above it is the 110 hp variant, which is instead available with both the six-speed manual and the 7-speed DSG automatic. The 150 hp four-cylinder engine is positioned at the top of the range, and is available in conjunction with the DSG automatic only.
A lot of technology in the taigo
The interiors are similar in style to those found on the Polo. Ample space for German pragmatism, therefore, in a horizontally developed dashboard that shows off two large screens, one for the instrumentation, the other for interaction with the multimedia system. The latter, being based on the Mib3 platform, is always connected to the network and is also compatible with the various services offered by Volkswagen. The size of the two screens (multimedia system and instrumentation) depends on the set-up. On the rich Style and R-Line, the virtual dashboard is visible on a 10.25 “screen and the multimedia system on an 8” touch panel (the basic Taigo version stops at 6 “).
volkswagen taigo, drives almost alone
Just like on the new Polo, the Taigo is full of Adas. In addition to the systems that we could now define as basic such as automatic emergency braking and attention assist, there is the IQ Drive Travel (optional for a fee). The latter conforms the car to level 2 of autonomous driving since it combines cruise control with stop & go function with the active assistant for lane maintenance, thus allowing semi-automated driving up to a maximum speed of 210 km / h.
the fittings available on the taigo
The new suv coupé of the German company will be available in four different versions: Taigo, Life, Style and R-Line. However, in Italy, at least initially, only the Life and R-Line will be available. Life features LED headlights, 8 “digital dashboard, 6.5” multimedia system, central armrest with USB-C ports, multifunction leather steering wheel, electrically foldable exterior mirrors and alloy wheels. 16. The rich R-Line includes, among other things, a specific personalization of the bodywork with the two terminals integrated into the diffuser, the 10.25 ”virtual dashboard and Led Matrix IQ.Light headlights.
