SAO PAULO (Reuters) – About a thousand workers at Volkswagen in São Bernardo (SP) who had their employment contracts suspended since November will return to work on March 2, the ABC Metalworkers Union reported on Thursday.
“To get through the critical period of shortage of semiconductors and other parts in general, we seek negotiations and agreements that prioritize job security, investments and instruments such as layoffs,” union director Wellington Damasceno said in a note.
Currently, Volkswagen has about 8,000 direct workers in the country, according to the union.
