Volkswagen and BMW They have managed to snatch market leadership from Tesla of electric cars in Germany by registering more vehicles than the American company so far in 2024, according to records from the country’s Motor Transport Authority (KBA) consulted by Europa Press.
So far in 2024, some 49,200 fully electric Volkswagen vehicles have been registered in Germany, while in the case of BMW sales have amounted to 33,167 units.
However, Tesla registrations have not stopped falling over the last ten months until reaching 31,461 vehicles.
Even so, the demand crisis for electric cars in Germany has continued to worsen in recent months, since Volkswagen – the main commercial brand of the homonymous group – has sold 9,400 fewer cars than last year at this time, while Tesla has managed to sell 23,300 fewer.
BMW, for its part, is on a growth path in its home country with registrations that have increased by 6,600 units compared to 2023 figures.
