The Volgograd region received the first batch of refugees from the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass, who arrived in the region by rail on the evening of February 20. About it reported in the press service of the regional administration.
Currently, 433 refugees have arrived in the region, of which 166 are children under the age of 14. They were taken to temporary accommodation facilities. “All refugees are provided with food, medical care and PCR testing will be available to everyone,” said Zina Merzhoyeva, Deputy Governor of the Volgograd Region.
The arrivals will also be assisted by psychologists of the regional centers of social protection and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and for school-age children an individual learning process will be organized.
Earlier, Acting Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Chupriyan said that by the evening of February 20, more than 53,000 evacuated residents of Donbass had arrived on the territory of the Russian Federation. They were taken from the territories of the DPR and LPR on 142 buses to 101 temporary accommodation points in the Rostov region. 419 people applied for medical help, including 74 children. Psychological assistance is also provided for the evacuees.
The mass evacuation of residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics began on February 18 against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Donbass.
