Publisher Digital Eclipse and development studio Crazy Viking Studios have announced the Volgarr the Viking II availability at the price of 19.50 euros on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S and Nintendo Switch. The PC version is available on Steam and GOG. For those who don’t know, it’s the sequel to a cult indie platformer inspired by Taito’s Rastan Saga series, which is considered the spiritual sequel.
A challenge for everyone
The first Volgarr the Viking came out in 2013, so more than ten years ago, selling hundreds of thousands of copies. The sequel, like its predecessor, is a brutally difficult 2D platformerwhich aims to recreate a level of challenge from 80s coin ops.
In fact, the developers have chosen a more modern solution for the new chapter, since Volgarr the Viking II also offers some accessibility options such as checkpoints, save states and an undead mode. As explained in the official description: “You decide how difficult your mission should be, now everyone can be a Viking!” In short, overall we are talking about an experience that aims to satisfy both those looking for a very difficult challenge, and those who want to play in a more relaxed way.
