A new recognition for Opel Mokka-e. The 100% electric SUV of the German car manufacturer was in fact awarded the “Volante d’Oro 2021” award in the category “Best Car under 25,000 euros”: an important success for the German brand, which last year had always triumphed with a battery-powered model, in that case Corsa-e. Before these two models, it was only in 2017 that an Opel electric car took the prize: it was the Ampera-e. Instead, it is one first for an SUV of the German brand, which had never before been awarded the “Volante d’Oro”.
“Our Opel Mokka-e is anything but ordinary and proved it once again at this year’s” Golden Steering Wheel “ – said Uwe Hochgeschurtz, CEO of Opel, present at the awards ceremony held at the Axel Springer Haus in Berlin – Thanks to cutting-edge technologies and uncompromising design, Opel Mokka-e makes electric mobility fun. We are very happy that our customers, the readers of AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG and the jury of experts think the same way ”. THE strengths the most popular of the new Opel Mokka-e were different: from the bold design to the high engine performance, passing through the 338 kilometer range guaranteed by a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The “Volante d’Oro” award was given to Opel for 19 times in history, starting in 1978, two years after the creation of the award, with the Opel Senator A. “The prize has been awarded since 1976 by BILD am SONNTAG and since 2009 in collaboration with AUTO BILD – reads an official note signed Opel – In the path leading to the victory of the “Volante d’Oro” the readers of AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG they are the first to vote: elect three favorites in each category and send them to the final. On the DEKRA Lausitzring track, an expert jury made up of journalists, racing drivers and car experts evaluates the individual finalists using criteria based on the AUTO BILD test method ”.
