Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Chief Officer of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Anatoly Altshtein has defined the category of people who should not be given QR codes. In his opinion, these include patients who have had an asymptomatic coronavirus. The virologist shared his opinion on this matter in an interview with Lenta.ru.
Earlier, the head of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of Russia, Valery Fadeev, at a meeting with the head of state Vladimir Putin, proposed issuing QR codes to those who have undergone COVID-19 with high antibody titers.
In addition, those who have recovered should be allowed to visit public places if they have a negative PCR test for coronavirus, Fadeev said. For this, it is necessary to strengthen the system of operational and free testing, he stressed.
Who needs to issue QR codes in the first place?
According to Altstein, COVID-19 patients have the right to receive a QR code, but there is a nuance here. “They would, of course, also need to be vaccinated, but in principle it is not such a primary task to vaccinate those who have been ill. One thing is clear – it is necessary to issue it to those who have been clinically ill with a diagnosis, and not to those who suffered in an asymptomatic form, ”the virologist shared his opinion on this matter.

Otherwise, the chief employee of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology believes, there will be abuse. “I am not a supporter of this approach to pass off QR codes as antibodies. Because there will be a lot of abuse. Commercial companies will issue them without checking the test result, I think. And no one will test for antibodies. The state at least. Antibody measurement is a private matter, ”warned Altstein.
Earlier it became known that the bill on the mandatory introduction of QR codes for visiting public places and traveling by transport will be considered in the State Duma at the end of December.
On November 12, draft amendments were introduced to the State Duma on the use of digital passes in public places confirming the fact of vaccination against COVID-19 or a previous illness. The initiative does not regulate the operation of public transport, pharmacies, grocery stores and retail outlets with essential goods.
