Aprilia uncatchable in the Sprint in Texas
It's a Maverick Viñales in version first races in Yamaha in 2017 what has hit Texas so far this weekend. The Aprilia rider obtained pole position and in the Sprint remained in command from the first to the last corner.
“There has been a change since last year in Qatar – explained Vinales to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP – the guys and technicians have found the balance I need to go fast with this bike and to get the most out of my riding style. The secret is this. We have always been in front since we found the balance, especially with the right grip between the front and rear we have always been in front. This consistency is making us believe even more in our work, I said that the victory in the Sprint in Portimao took 7 kg off me, and that certainly helped me. When you feel more comfortable and the bike feels more like yours, everything is different. It's a whole different story and obviously you're more convinced, but this is thanks to the great work we've done with the team, and I'm very happy for that.”
Vinales seems to have put the nightmare of starts behind him and for tomorrow there is the unknown of the tyre: “During the winter we worked a lot on the clutch. If you start from the front in MotoGP you make a race, so the objective must be the front row and start from the front. I had a bit of graining on the right side of the tyre, I only have a doubt about the medium. We don't know and we still have to understand, the tires were still quite good at the end of the race in terms of degradation, but here 20 laps is a lot. We still have to understand this night well to understand what we will do tomorrow.”
