On the eve of the first day of testing on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, Maverick Viñales it seemed very positive in view of the Spanish weekend, on a circuit well known by the home driver. Confirmation came today in both PL1 and Practice, both finishing in the podium area. The Aprilia rider in fact set the third fastest time in the first session, before improving in practice.
Excellent result after the fall
Despite a crash in the initial stages, without any consequences, the #12 subsequently recorded a lap exactly one tenth slower than Francesco Bagnaia's absolute fastest lap, thus positioning himself 2nd. A performance that therefore confirms Viñales' positive moment after the memorable weekend in Austin, and which could be the starting point towards another more than positive weekend in front of his fans.
Happiness ahead of the qualifications
Viñales himself was in the opinion of an optimist, even more so due to the good sensations from Friday's testing: “We're doing greatdespite Jerez being a particular and very difficult track – he explained to the Sky Sport MotoGP microphone – all the teams do a lot of testing on this track and therefore manage to find a good fit straight away. This weekend represents a good opportunity for us in Aprilia to understand our level. On braking I'm still not as effective as in Austin, but I'm happy with the pace and the flying lap. My growth at Aprilia was gradual and we worked a lot on balance. Our changes to the bike concerned the chassis more than anything else, while in general we are fine with the electronics.”
