It is not specified whether it was a drill or an emergency itself, as Manuel Van Oordt, CEO of Latam Airlines Peru, indicated that no emergency was reported, the flight was in optimal condition and had permission to take off.
“He met a truck on the airstrip and We don’t know what that truck was doing there. We are waiting to clarify this fact, we have not had any coordination (with LAP)”, he stressed.

The surviving firefighter also appears in the recording, Manuel Villanueva Alarcón (31), who is in serious condition at the hospital Alberto Sabogal, with mechanical ventilation due to a fracture at the base of the skull.
It should be noted that other videos show three fire vehicles moving near the takeoff runway. Apparently, one of the drivers did not notice the presence of the plane and despite his maneuver, he ended up hitting the plane.
