After the day, in which the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) took his first victory, the organizers of the maximum motoring competition indicated that, fortunately, the drivers involved did not present “considerable injuries”.
Zhou, indicated the International Automobile Federation (FIA), was “in good health and left the medical center.”
Precisely, the Chinese pilot shared a piece of calm on social networks hours after the serious accident:
“I’m fine, all clear. Halo saved me today. Thank you all for your kind messages!”Zhou pointed out.
What few knew was that on the same Silverstone circuit, the halo, that piece of titanium located above the ‘cockpit’ of Formula 1 single-seaters to protect the pilot, had already prevented another tragedy minutes before. Everything, in the valid British race of Formula 2.

The first tragedy that avoided the halo this Sunday
The seventh date of Formula 2 took place this Sunday, at the Silverstone Circuit, in a new edition of the British GP. The activity generated great expectation, but everything had to come to a standstill on the first lap due to an impressive crash between Roy Nissany, from the DAMS team, and Dennis Hauger, from PREMA Racing.
The event had just started, with several drivers pushing forward for a better position early on. Everything was going conventionally, until a dangerous maneuver in the third sector sparked great concern.
During one of the corners, Roy Nissany (11th on the grid) went too wide and left the track, although he decided to make a dangerous comeback, unaware of the cars behind him. Precisely, Dennis Hauger (13th on the grid) was affected, since he was forced to go over the zebra, he had a brush and ended up losing control of the vehicle.

After the incident, the Israeli from the DAMS team, which caused the mishap, continued with his route and gained some positions by turning to the left, when the unexpected happened. The Dane from PREMA Racing was advancing on the grass, without being able to brake, and his car rose into the air, after colliding with the curb of the circuit (the deterrent sausage).
Rising sharply, Dennis Hauger’s car landed exactly on top of Nissany’s halo, who had run it off the track. The safety device at head height was vital in saving Roy’s life.since a tire had burst and the metal part could have caused a more serious result.
