A video has gone viral on social networks in which the moment in which a teacher saved the life of a boy who was choking after accidentally swallowing a water bottle cap.
Fortunately, the woman was prepared to deal with this type of incident and reacted promptly when she saw that the child was drowning and performed the Heimlich maneuver on him.
The incident occurred at the East Orange school in New Jersey, United States, during a math class.
As explained by the 9-year-old named Robert, he tried unsuccessfully to open the bottle with his hands, so he decided to do it with the help of his teeth, but the lid loosened and got stuck in his throat.
Robert claimed that he tried to cough to get the lid off, but when he couldn’t, he decided to run to his teacher for help.
Janiece Jenkins, the teacher, said she saw the student nervously running towards her and pointing at her throat. “He couldn’t talk, so I just turned him over and did the Heimlich maneuver.“He told ABC 7 News.
