Mexico City.– Singer Susana Zabaleta shared on social media that her father Alfonso José Zabaleta Margaín died, so she postponed a show she was to give this Saturday in Mérida.
“My father became very ill. I know that as an artist my obligation is to be on stage, but my obligation as a daughter is to be there with my brothers and my mother… It is very difficult to sing and have a soul in tatters,” she commented.
The Palacio de la Música shared a statement and confirmed that Susana Zabaleta’s show will be scheduled for September 19. “We stand in solidarity with @susanazabaleta and her family, and we extend our deepest condolences for the death of her father.
Tonight’s concert will be held with María San Felipe and Los Juglares. Susana Zabaleta’s concert at the Palacio de la Música will be rescheduled for Thursday, September 19,” they said.
Matías Gruener, Susana Zabaleta’s son, honored his grandfather on Instagram and said he will always remember him for the stories he told him. “I will take out your letters and read them with a lump in my throat. The stories you told are in my mind and in my soul. Fly high, grandpa,” he wrote. Dr. Alfonso José Zabaleta Margaín will be laid to rest tonight at Rancho Nada in Monclova, Coahuila, and on September 8 he will have a religious ash service at the Sanctuary of Guadalupe.
