The Colombian Juan Sebastián Muñoz did a spectacular round in the third round of The Players, considered the ‘big fifth’ of golf. The day was suspended due to lack of light and the tournament will end on Monday, for the first time since 2005.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms significantly affected the game on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the wind and the cold were protagonists of the contest.

This is how the Muñoz round was going before the suspension
Muñoz, who had made the cut with a cumulative 143 hits, one under par, started on fire in the third round, with four birdies in the first nine holes of his round: he started at 10 and went below par at 11, 12 , 13 and 16.
Then, the man from Bogota scored two new birdies, on 2 and 4, until the suspension of the tournament was decided due to lack of light.

The result partially left Muñoz in fourth place in the contest, two strokes behind the leader, the Iranian Anirban Lahiri, and one of the players who share the second square, the Americans Tom Hoge and Harold Varner III.
Muñoz is aspiring to win a very important title
The Colombian thus takes revenge for his first two participations in The Players: in 2020 he could only play one round until the contest was canceled due to the start of the covid-19 pandemic. And last year he didn’t make the cut.
The tournament will resume this Monday with the remainder of the third round and then the final day to distribute the $20 million purse, the largest on the circuit. The winner will take 2.7 million.
