Real Cartagena was left on the verge of the final of the Betplay Tournament despite its 2-0 victory against Orsomarso on the last date of the semi-final quadrangular and the great hirings they made for this semester such as Luis ‘Chino’ Sandoval and Teófilo Gutierrez.

After the elimination of the final, there was tension in the press conference of coach Alberto Suárez, who once again experienced an event of this caliber with the press.

This Monday, after the elimination, a journalist reproached him for aligning Jhon Valencia and asked him if he felt like a failure: “These things are sometimes strange. Today we had a good game, especially from some, not all, the game is won, but it is eliminated. You say that the problem is not Valencia, obviously the problem is not Valencia, the problem is you who put it and insist that you put it, not only today but in previous games. Do you feel like a failure in reaching this elimination?”

Suárez did not remain silent and responded: “That is the big problem with people like you. Why do I have to be the guilty one or the failure? If we fail, we all fail. Here we gave everything to achieve it, we gave what we could do and we took where we could take, that was the payroll we had.”

“They told me to put ‘Chino’ Sandoval and I said “I’m not putting him in.” Why am I going to put him in?”

And he added: “It is much easier for you to go out and point to a completely inexperienced 21-year-old boy who is about to turn, you will say why I put him in, because it was the only thing he had available.”

In the middle of his response, the journalist asks him about a specific player and Suárez answers: “I didn’t know he was torn, I just told him. “I have to take care of human beings and I have what I have.”

The Real Cartagena coach was more emphatic with his response: “Do you think I am eliminated on a whim? I am not eliminated on a whim. They are witnesses that I do not close myself to any player, I make the players I have available, I do not make those who are not available.

Incidentally, Alberto Suárez spoke about the absence of ‘Chino’ Sandoval: “They told me to put ‘Chino’ Sandoval and I said: ‘I’m not putting him in.’ Why am I going to put it? I say, you must understand the situation, the easiest thing is to sit cross-dressed and point out to everyone when you don’t know. None of you have gone to training there, the easy thing is to sit down and destroy us, I have to defend the players. My support has to be the way we gave it.”

In the end, strategist Alberto Suárez launched a phrase for everyone present at the press conference: “The easiest thing is to destroy than to build and we are trying to build.”
