lLucas González arrived very excited for his debut with Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero in Argentine soccer. It is the Colombian coach’s first experience in international football.
“It’s a huge dream. Very big. I don’t know the Monumental. When I came to Argentina I was eight years old and my father took me to the Bombonera. I really want to get to know it as a football fan and having the chance to coach there is another level.” González told Olé before the game.
However, González’s first game at the Monumental was a nightmare, especially in the first stage. River Plate beat them 3-0, on the first date of the League.
After two minutes, the VAR annulled River’s first goal play for offside. But at 5, those led by Martín Demichelis went ahead with a goal from Facundo Colidio, after a clearance from Milton Casco.
At 24 minutes, Central Córdoba was left with 10 players due to the expulsion of Santiago Laquidain, for preventing a clear scoring opportunity.
At 30, Colidio scored his second goal of the night, with a header, after a cross from Claudio Echeverri, after a corner kick.
In the second stage, River lowered the revs and the game was a little calmer for González and Central Córdoba. However, every time the locals accelerated there was danger.
This is how River’s third came, 41 minutes into the second half, when Ezequiel Barco scored a great goal, with a shot from outside the area.
