The state of Florida is currently going through a complex situation due to the passage of Hurricane Milton, which made landfall this Wednesday in Siesta Key, on the west coast.
According to the criteria of
Milton lost power and dropped to category 2, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (110 miles), but still poses a significant danger from gusty winds.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) detailed in its latest bulletin that Milton is also causing flash flooding in the Tampa Bay area as it moves toward eastern Florida.
One of the consequences of Hurricane Milton passing through Florida occurred in Tampa, where it destroyed the roof of Tropicana Field, the stadium where the Rays play, the ninth that represents that city in Major League baseball.
Several videos circulating on social networks show the state of the stage after Milton passed through.
Tropicana Field had been suitable as a shelter
This destruction creates an additional complication. The outfield area of the baseball stadium had been suitable as a shelter for people who were evacuated from their homes due to the force of the winds generated by Milton.
Tropicana Field was also being used as a shelter for National Guard troops and first responders, and is also used to store vehicles and materials that will be used to clean up once the hurricane passes.
For now, it is unknown what the inside of the stadium looked like after the hurricane, nor are there any reports of injuries.
