The responses of the Murcians
Regarding the books by Arturo Pérez Reverte, 'The Shadow of the Eagle'. 'The Flandés Table' and 'Captain Alatriste' have been some of the books mentioned by the famous Cartagena writer, although many of those interviewed were not able to mention any title. On the other hand, most citizens knew that 'The Iliad' was written by the Greek writer Homer. Regarding the question about why International Book Day is celebrated on April 23, several people admitted that “for Sant Jordi” and some have declared that “to promote reading” and, although both answers are closely related to day, the real reason why that date is celebrated is because of the death of Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Garcilaso de la Vega that same day.
Likewise, Dulcinea del Toboso is known by the people of Murcia, although many of them did not remember the characteristic name of Don Quixote's beloved. On the other hand, almost no one knew the British author of 'Pride and Prejudice', Jane Austen. Finally, all those interviewed have been able to answer that 'Game of Thrones' was first a book and then a series, although the latter ended previously at the end of the literary saga.
