A video is circulating on social media of the exact moment when several people were observing the Biscuit Basin, an area known for its hot springs, lakes and geysers.
Without warning, everyone witnessed a hydrothermal explosion, as stated on the Yellowstone National Park website, which initially left them in shock, but seconds later had them running from the thousands of rocky debris that began to fall from the sky.
On social media and the official website of this American park, it is explained that the incident occurred at 10:19 am on July 23 near the Sapphire Pool in Biscuit Basin, located just north of Old Faithful.
Biscuit Basin was temporarily closed for safety reasons: “Biscuit Basin, including the parking lot and boardwalks, are temporarily closed for safety reasons. The Grand Loop Road remains open,” it reads.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported and the extent of the damage is currently unknown.
