Painful images reach us from the United Kingdom. There, some Jaguar I-Paces went up in flames when they were on a truck trailer for transport. It is not clear how the fire started. Fortunately, no one was hurt and one I-Pace appears to be okay. Seven other electric Jags largely melted. Ouch.
The fire took place on the M1 motorway in England. The local fire service, the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, arrived on the scene at 3pm. Five hours later the fire was under control and the remains of the cars were towed away.
In the video below you can see how the electric cars burn down. We as laymen get the impression that the fire may have started at the trailer, for example due to a dragging brake – but that is speculation. Once the fire jumps to the electric cars, which are notoriously difficult to extinguish, there is little to save.
Where the Jaguars went is also unknown. The truck that pulled the trailer bears the BCA brand. Among other things, they do auctions, but also bring cars from A to B. The Jaguar I-Pace goes for at least 83,077 euros in the Netherlands, so that at least 581,539 euros have been lost. Watch the tragic images of the burning electric cars below.
Avoid M1 southbound near Trowell services, driving past before any emergency services on the scene, driver safe and out of the way 🔥🚗 #M1 #fire #m1fire #transporterfire pic.twitter.com/NxKKHxOvBw
