Vicarious Visions is one of the most prolific American developers of the last 25 years, producing numerous successful installments for such popular franchises as Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk’s and Spider-Man, among others. In recent years, they’ve scored back-to-back hits with the acclaimed remasters Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2, and it seems their reward for that good work will be becoming a supporting studio.
Today it was announced that Vicarious Visions merges with Blizzard, and its 200 employees will be “fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives.” Despite this shift in focus, Vicarious Visions will not relocate – they will remain at their current headquarters in Albany, New York.
Vicarious Visions Merges With Blizzard Entertainment No More Tony Hawk’s?
After collaborating with Vicarious Visions for some time and developing a great relationship, Blizzard realized there was an opportunity for [Viarious Visions] provide long-term support.
This means that Vicarious Visions is currently working on existing Blizzard titles, such as Overwatch 2, from which we have not had any news for a long time. In addition, it is possible that the people at the studio are also helping with the development of Diablo 4, another of the future titles that Blizzard has in its hands.
But all this raises a question of great importance, and that is that, despite the successes that the study has had in bringing back emblematic franchises as we mentioned before, will not there be more Tony Hawk’s?

If the fans of the franchise have agreed on one thing, it is that the studio managed with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skate 1 + 2 to return the spirit to the saga, after deliveries of the franchise that did not leave everyone happy. It is clear that after this merger, it does not seem that the people of Vicarious Game will be able to take over Tony Hawk’s again, unless it is under the seal of Blizzard itself.
