Continue the good time in qualifying Sebastian Vettel. The German of Aston Martin, in fact, also at Silverstone managed to enter the top-10 on Saturday, overcoming the cut in Q2 which instead stopped his teammate Lance Stroll, 12th on the starting grid. In Q3 then Vettel was unable to gain other positions, being beaten by both the Alpines of Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso. From the point of view of the race, however, this tenth place can be a good way to try and grab some world championship points. Thinking precisely from the point of view of the race, Vettel then expressed his opinion on the strategic issue, which will see him start on soft tires.
“We struggled a bit to get the tires in the right temperature for the last lap – Vettel explained at the end of the day – I think maybe we could have been noni. But, realistically, 10th was what we deserved. Actually I think on a strategic level it will be an advantage to start the race with the Soft tire, we just have to see how long it will last – added the four-time world champion – it worked quite well yesterday, but we still have to see if we can make a one-way strategy work by starting with the soft “.
More regretted of course Lance Stroll, eliminated at the gates of Q3 for a few thousandths. “We came so close to entering Q3 that it’s a bit of a shame to be only 12th on the grid. I have mixed feelings, because we were competitive in Q1 and finished sixth at that stage. But in Q2 it was all a bit more difficult. The upside though is that we have the free choice of tires for tomorrow’s race and we will be able to think of a different strategy from the riders in the top 10 “.
