The Chief Minister of the Civil House, Ciro Nogueira, stated that “it’s very hard” grant the estimated 5% increase to civil servants in 2022.
In an interview with CNN Brazil this Thursday (June 2, 2022), Nogueira said that the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) wants to give the readjustment, but the government faces difficulties.
“He [Jair Bolsonaro] want to raise. I expect this to occur, up to a very significant increase from next year. But this year we have a very big difficulty, we have to make cuts that are hurting the government a lot, in important areas, because of this situation of the spending ceiling.”
In April, after meeting with Economy Minister Paulo Guedes and other government officials, Bolsonaro said he would prioritize the readjustment proposal for all federal civil servants. The suggested percentage was 5%, with the possibility of decreasing to 4%.
However, during live held on May 19, the Chief Executive, backtracked and said that the increase is still uncertain.
