Which side is Verstappen on?
When the case relating to the conduct of Christian Horner towards an employee and the related internal complaint from the latter, various media outlets have outlined what appears to all intents and purposes to be a showdown at Red Bull.
A truly paradoxical internal political situation given that we are talking about the team that closed the best season in the history of Formula 1 a few months ago, breaking record after record.
Specifically, the newspapers have lined up Helmut Marko and Jos and Max Verstappen on one side and Christian Horner and the Yoovidhya family, 51% owners of the Red Bull company, on the other.
Verstappen speaks
The axis between Marko and Verstappen also produced the recent renewal of the 80-year-old Austrian councilor and seems to be looked upon favorably also by the Red Bull sports management led by Oliver Mintzlaff.
On the sidelines of the presentation of the Red Bull RB20, Verstappen also spoke to journalists about the Horner case, but remained rather tight-lipped: “Personally I always remain very balanced and I try to eliminate any emotion”. When asked if he wanted to see Horner at the head of the team for a long time, the communications manager intervened to close the discussion. Verstappen defended this choice: “It is better not to ask anything about it and simply wait for the trial. Otherwise, stories will be invented about it again and speculation will continue.”
