Dutch driver Max Verstappen scored the best lap time in the first free practice of the Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, in the Formula One World Championship.
Red flags were waved before the end of the test, after the Japanese car of Yuki Tsunoda, the Alpha Tauri driver, rolled and hit the tire wall. After stopping, Verstappen returned to using the soft tires and achieved the fastest lap time with a minute and 17.5555 seconds.
Finnish Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas was second, 0.061 seconds behind, while his teammate and British world champion Lewis Hamilton was third, 0.167 seconds behind Verstappen.
Hamilton won the British Grand Prix after Verstappen crashed early in the race, which forced him out of the race.
Hamilton is one race away from winning the 100 races of his career in Formula One, and is eight points behind Hamilton in the drivers’ category.
