Verstappen and Viaplay are intensifying the collaboration, while Robert Doornbos has nothing further to do with it.
For many it takes some getting used to. Since this year we no longer watch F1 via Ziggo, but via Viaplay. Viaplay’s parent company, NENT (Nordic Entertainment Group) had paid a fortune to acquire the broadcasting rights in the Netherlands. Of course with the aim of earning money with it.
At Viaplay is not everything. Only (‘there’ hairy) Rob Kamphues, Van Gameren and Robrecht Droomdos are not among them. Even Tom Coronel was allowed to join, despite the fact that they aspired to a higher level with less ‘max-mania’ with a Viaplay. They also wanted to be more critical of the Dutch participant (Verstappen).
Verstappen and ViaPlay are working together even more
Well, that failed miserably, of course. That is also because Verstappen has had a dream season. With a few breakdowns at the start of the season, he rides almost clear and he strings together the victories.
All the more reason for ViaPlay to strengthen ties with Verstappen. We will notice this in a number of cases where it is striking that Harald Doornbosch (also known as Educated Warlock according to the Wu Tang name generator) is again not present. No. Not him. A lot of Verstappen, exactly what the fans want, of course.
For example, there will be more content on ViaPlay in which Max Verstappen can be seen. There are already two documentaries ‘Verstappen – Lion Unleashed’ (without Doornbos) and ‘Master of the Track’ (without Doornbos either). But more new and exclusive Viaplay programs are coming. These will have their premiere during the winter break: do you have the perfect reason to spend 13.99 euros per month on a Viaplay subscription while there is no race.
There is more! (but no longer Doornbos)
But there is more that you will see from the collaboration. For example, the Viaplay logo is on Verstappen’s helmet of the Singapore GP, which takes place this weekend. Not only that, the logo stands also on the new official Max Verstappen drivers cap. “Viaplay” is written on the brim of that cap, to indicate that the two work closely together.
Max Verstappen is apparently pleased with it:
“I am super happy with the extension of the Viaplay partnership. I look back on the collaboration so far with great pleasure. I’m sure we can treat Formula 1 fans to many more great programs in the coming period. As we all know, streaming is the new way of broadcasting and I think Viaplay is doing an excellent job shaping this future.”
Max Verstappen does not say a word about the director of Porsche Centrum Rotterdam.
To with @jaapiyo to speak, of which note!
