Max Verstappen figuratively ‘burned’ Lewis Hamilton when the lights went out in the Sprint Qualifying of the British Grand Prix, but before the start the braking system of the front left tire was literally burning.

“Obviously I was worried – Verstappen admitted after the Sprint Qualification in which he won pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix as well as three points in the standings – I saw that the fans in the stands have started taking pictures, there will for sure be some beautiful pictures around on social media. Between me and me in the helmet I kept looking at the mirrors and cheering on the riders in the back rows. ‘Hurry up’ I told them ”.
Hamilton: “I did everything I had to, but I was skating”
However, the adrenaline and the tension of the moment did not prevent Max Verstappen from performing in aexcellent start unlike Lewis Hamilton, who skated excessively. Also in 2018 the Mercedes driver started badly and was overtaken by Sebastian Vettel, with Kimi Raikkonen who then hit him sending him into a spin at the Village. Tomorrow Hamilton will have another chance to make up for it, from the same pitch from which Verstappen ‘made fire and flames’ today.
