The reigning Formula 1 champion, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, from Red Bull, won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. His partner, the Mexican Checo Pérez, entered second.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, the two Ferrari men, they withdrew due to problems in their cars. Thus, Red Bull extends its distance in both classifications of the 2022 World Cup.

In a race in which both Ferrari drivers dropped out – the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who started fourth, due to a hydraulic problem; and Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who did it from pole position, by one in the power unit- Red Bull extended its advantage in both championships.
Verstappen now leads the Drivers’ World Championship with 150 points, 21 more than his Mexican teammate, which rose to second place in the contest; and the Austrian team leads the Constructors’ World Championship with 279 units, eighty more than Ferrari.
The other Spaniard, the double Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso (Alpine), who had started tenth, finished the race in a very creditable seventh position. Ahead of him crossed the finish line the Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri), who was fifth, and the quadruple German world champion Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin), sixth this Sunday in Baku.
The two McLarens of the Australian Daniel Ricciardo and the Englishman Lando Norris finished eighth and ninth, respectively; and Frenchman Esteban Ocon, Alonso’s teammate in Alpine, also entered the points, finishing in tenth position.
The next Grand Prix, the Canadian Grand Prix, will be held next weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
