Venezuelan Foreign Minister Plasencia told Borrell that the country is ready to engage in dialogue with the EU
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia told High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell that the country is ready to engage in dialogue with the EU. This was reported by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic, reports TASS.
“Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia confirmed to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy the readiness of Venezuela to conduct a peaceful dialogue at a meeting held in Antalya,” the report says. According to the department, the meeting was held in a “pleasant and cordial atmosphere.”
Also during a conversation with Borrell, Plasencia conveyed “Venezuela’s demand to lift unilateral coercive sanctions from the country.”
Earlier, US State Department spokesman Ned Price called a condition for Washington to ease the sanctions imposed against Venezuela. According to him, this is possible in case of progress in the negotiations between Caracas and the opposition. Price said the US would only reconsider “some aspects of the sanctions policy” if there was “significant progress (…) in negotiations aimed at realizing the aspirations of the Venezuelan people for true and genuine democracy.”
