Venezuelan authorities expressed hope that the country will join BRICS in 2024
The Venezuelan authorities once again expressed hope for the country to join BRICS in 2024. This was announced by the country’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, writes RIA News.
“This is the road to a new world, a world without hegemony, a world built on respect for international law,” she noted.
Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that the country was already on the path to joining BRICS and could soon be accepted into this international association.
Venezuela has applied to join BRICS in August 2023.
In February, South African Ambassador to Russia Mzuvukile Jeff Maketuka said that 25 countries were waiting to join BRICS. According to him, new members will join the association at the summit in Kazan. At the moment, nine states are members of the association, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia.
