Good start
Fresh from the podium achieved by Carlos Sainz in Bahrain and the fourth position achieved in the same race by Charles Leclerc Ferrari look with moderate but real optimism in the second round of the 2024 season. This time we will take to the track on the very fast track of Jeddah, which has very different characteristics from the Sakhir track. The only unknown for Ferrari seems to be reliability, after the brake problems which complicated the lives of both drivers in last Saturday's event.
Max far away, but closer
Presenting the Saudi Arabia weekend the Maranello team principal, Frederic Vasseurreiterated how the new single-seater was born well and how the team as a whole is progressing in the “right direction“: “The first race of the season confirmed to us that we have been working in the right direction over the winter – were Vasseur's words – in Sakhir we saw that in qualifying the values are very close, while the gap to Max Verstappen in the race is still significant. It is important, however, that we managed to reduce it compared to last year and this represents a good starting point“.
The Jeddah Challenge
The most interesting aspect of the Jeddah weekend will be given precisely by the characteristics of the routevery particular and therefore probative: “We are faced with a completely different test bed – declared the French manager – and we want to verify that what good the SF-24 has shown in these first few weeks is also confirmed on such a different track. The track is characterized by very smooth asphalt, to the point that tire degradation should be negligible, and for the first time we will find high-speed corners that will highlight the load and aerodynamic efficiency aspects of the cars. Charles and Carlos have always felt at ease there and I expect us to still be among the best and in a position to compete for important results with both drivers in both qualifying and the race.”.
