On the occasion of the premiere of What’s my name?, the actor spoke with Deadline about the film chosen to end his career. “I wanted to leave the stage but with a review of my career, starting with Bloodsport, in which I began to be famous,” he told the specialized media.

In this way, the film will be a pseudo-autobiographical story in which Van Damme plays himself during a moment of loss of his identity after so many years giving life to various characters. For this reason, he wants to take his day to day calmly to focus on what he loves most.
“I’m canceling everything to get in shape. After this film, I bought a small boat (…) I want to go around the world and relax. I worked all my life, I lived all my life in hotels for 30 years. I want to relax and enjoy my life and my family, because life goes by fast,” she explained.

Van Damme noted that this need to get away from the spotlight also becomes part of the plot of What’s My Name? “All of that will be explained in the movie, how I got away from my family,” detailed the veteran actor and Hollywood star.
“In the movie, I’m going down in terms of career. As I leave the premiere of another action movie [The last mercenary]I am not happy because I have been living in hotels for the last 30 years, which is really true. We are going to bring real elements of my real life and what happened to me, ”she finished.
