Yet another accident in the mountains ends in tragedy, this time on the Matterhorn
On the mountain Matterhornin Valle d’Aosta, the bodies of two climbers who had disappeared since Saturday were recovered. They would have died as a result of a fall. They proceeded tied in preserves.
The two, probably of Swiss origin but whose personal details are not yet known, had not returned on Saturday after the high altitude excursion. From here the alarm was triggered that started the searches, which ended at dawn today, as the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue.
The official identification procedures are still in progress, because no documents have been found of the two victims, but one of the two climbers could have, according to initial information, 29 years old.
The corpses of the two climbers were identified through the information acquired by the Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue operator in the Unica del Soccorso center and spotted by the helicopter under the Lion creston the Matterhorn, a altitude 3100 meters. They would have died as a result of a fall. They proceeded tied in preserves.
There are no witnesses to what happened: it is possible that one of the two slipped dragging the other with him. But at the moment it is only a matter of hypotheses.
The bodies were brought to Cervinia and have been entrusted to Sagf the operations of recognition and judicial police.
