RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Vale produced 89.4 million tonnes of iron ore in the third quarter, up 0.8% from the same period last year, the miner said in a report on Tuesday.
The company also maintained its production target for the commodity for the year between 315 million and 335 million tonnes, but said the volume should be “below the mid-range” forecast, due to a strategy of maximizing margins.
Iron ore sales, in turn, totaled 67.8 million tonnes between July and September, up 3.2% compared to the third quarter of 2020.
