The mining company Vale released last night, 4, the list of candidates for its board of directors, which will undergo a new election after the resignation of the former president of Previ, José Maurício Pereira Coelho. As it was elected by means of multiple voting, the entire council will need to undergo a formal election to complete its term.
The names indicated by the Appointment Committee, installed in January, are the same that currently make up the board of directors. To replace Coelho, who resigned, the current president of Previ, Daniel Stieler, was appointed. Stieler has already served on the board through appointment made by the collegiate.
Vale’s board of directors has a total of 13 members, one of whom is elected by employees and will not need to be reelected next April. The committee list thus has 12 names. In addition to Stieler, they are: José Luciano Duarte Penido (independent member), Fernando Jorge Buso Gomes, Eduardo de Oliveira Rodrigues Filho, Ken Yasuhara, Marcelo Gasparino da Silva (independent member), Mauro Gentile Rodrigues da Cunha (independent member), Murilo Cesar Lemos dos Santos Passos (independent member), Manuel Lino Silva de Sousa Oliveira (independent member), Rachel de Oliveira Maia (independent member), Roberto Castello Branco (independent member) and Roger Allan Downey (independent member).
According to the statement, despite having indicated the continuation of the current collegiate, the nominating committee suggested for the election to be held in 2023 a “reinforcement of competences” less present in the current collegiate, relating to “business innovation, digital intelligence and new technologies, commercial and trading”.
