The healthcare assistant figures increasingly central in the world of vaccinations, with reference to different targets, from the pediatric to the adult range, from the elderly to fragile subjects, without forgetting particular conditions linked to work environments, such as prophylaxis before a trip and specific and emergency campaigns, the recent Covid pandemic for example. This was the theme of the event held in Genoa “The healthcare assistant and the new challenges of vaccination: arguing for vaccinations”, where the project was presented Digivaxdeveloped through a synergy between the National Register Commission for Health Assistants, Choralia internal communication and training Srl and Gsk.
“With this initiative – he declares Roberto Rosselli vice president of the National Register of Health Assistants – we wanted to remind you of the innovations contained in the new National Vaccine Prevention Plan 2023-2025 and the target coverage indicated in the attached vaccination calendar, update health assistants on the current state of the so-called vaccination hesitancy and indicate possible strategies to implement membership of the immunological offer in our country, as well as present new forms and tools for professional development”.
Among the strategies implemented to achieve these objectives is the launch of Digivax, a project created with the aim of training healthcare assistants on pediatric vaccinations and related counselling. “Digivax represents an application of the innovative learning methodology called e-learning, which allows you to learn and update skills in a simple, pleasant and above all interactive way – continues Rosselli – The training objectives concern relational skills and vaccination counseling skills , professional tools for healthcare assistants that need to be perfected to deal with today's new scenarios. Final objective: to acquire full awareness of what the most effective approaches are to welcome, communicate, maintain a relationship and develop a relationship of trust with the patient”.
Today's trend towards so-called proximity medicine and the need to seize every opportunity to promote vaccination protection has changed the scenario of those able to offer vaccinations. “Together with the Prevention departments, the clinics and districts of the social and healthcare companies, general practitioners and paediatricians of free choice have been active for some time now to contribute to increasing vaccination coverage – underlines Rosselli – Today we have other important protagonists: the hospitals offering vaccinations (ospivax) and the pharmacy network. In all these settings, classic and new, the operational and professional consultancy support of Healthcare Assistants can be decisive. In addition to opening new places of vaccination offer, we must be able to have professionals capable of managing the new technical-organizational and operational complexities of today's 360-degree Vaccinology”.
And if the future of vaccination promotion is destined to be influenced by the ongoing digital revolution, it is also true that “these changes will have to be managed so that digital innovation has a positive effect on the promotion of the vaccination offer, where the assistant healthcare professional will play a re-generated professional role, becoming a real health consultant”, concludes Rosselli.
