The special commissioner for the Covid emergency: “Administration to students is the priority”
Rome – In view of the return to school, Regions and Provinces must “put in place the actions necessary to give priority to administration to students aged 12 or over “. Thus the Commissioner for Emergency Francesco Figliuolo in a new letter to the Regions in which he reports the minutes of the Cts of 12 July.
Figliuolo then reiterates what he had already written on 25 June, renewing the need to pursue “the maximum vaccination coverage for school staff through active involvement ”, and asking to have a list of all those who cannot or do not want to get vaccinated by 20 August.
Bassetti: “Yes to the obligation for teachers”
“I agree very much on compulsory vaccination for teachers. It is the only way to have a safe school in September”. This was underlined by Matteo Bassetti, head of infectious diseases at the San Martino hospital in Genoa.
“It seems to me that today there are 70% of teachers and 30-35% of children vaccinated” against Covid-19, he observes. “For September I don’t think it will be time to immunize them all with the kids, but for the teachers it is possible – the expert is convinced – It is enough to launch a measure tomorrow and for September 15 we have immunized all the teachers. The decision must be made today and not to neglect anymore “.
