As the press secretary of the head of the Russian state Dmitry Peskov said, the meeting is scheduled for the evening. At the same time, he noted that the leaders of the countries themselves will determine the time required for the conversation.
On December 4, Biden announced that he did not accept anyone’s “red lines” on the issue of Ukraine, and added that he intends to have a “long conversation” with Putin.
On December 3, Ushakov said that one of the topics of the upcoming talks between the presidents of Russia and the United States would be the situation in Ukraine. The parties will also discuss Afghanistan, consider the topics of Iran, Syria and Libya. In addition, the conversation will touch upon the issue of bilateral relations, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during the previous meeting in Geneva.
On December 1, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance would welcome a new personal meeting between Putin and Biden. He stressed that NATO not only believes in dialogue with Russia and approves any direct contacts between it and the United States, but also willingly expresses its readiness to conduct a dialogue with the Russian Federation at the alliance level.
The last meeting between Putin and Biden took place on June 16 at the Villa La Grange in Geneva. First, the presidents held talks in a narrow format, they lasted half an hour longer than the 1 hour and 15 minutes planned by the protocol. After that, an expanded meeting between the delegations of Russia and the United States took place. In general, taking into account the break, the summit took about three and a half hours.
During the summit, Russia and the United States adopted a joint statement on strategic stability. It reported that countries are seeking through dialogue to lay the foundation for future arms control and risk mitigation measures.
