Ciudad de Victoria.- The Mexican government, through the Ministry of Economy, announced that they accepted the request made by the United States to review whether they were denied the rights to freedom of union association and collective bargaining at the plant panasonicAutomotive Systems of Mexico, located in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR for its acronym in English) sent a request to Mexico on May 18 to verify the situation of labor rights in the aforementioned plant, allegedly having denied those rights to workers, which contradicts the commitments of the T-MEC.
By consenting to this request, “the Ministry of Economy, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and other agents involved, will review the case to determine whether or not there is a denial of labor rights in accordance with the provisions set forth in T -MEC”.
