USA: Two-year-old boy died after his father left him in the car

There were temperatures of more than 32 degrees. The man was arrested for his fatal carelessness.

There is commotion among the residents of Port St. Lucie, a city located on the Atlantic coast of Florida (USA), after the death of a two-year-old boy this past Monday. According to the authorities, his death was due to heat stroke after having remained “for hours” in a car.

The same day his father was arrested because, presumably, he forgot the minor in the vehicle. The Florida Department of Children and Families was also notified.

According to the police, James Fidele, 37, He called emergency services after realizing it several hours later and when rescuers arrived on scene they began resuscitation before transporting the boy to a hospital, where he later died.

“He told the police that he forgot to take his son out of the vehicle when he got home this morning,” says the American media CBS 12. At 1:17 pm they were notified.

“This is a very unfortunate and tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family during this difficult time.”said Sergeant John Dellacroce, spokesman for the local police, in a statement released by WPBF.

Florida is going through a strong heat wave and on the day of the tragedy the thermometers marked 32.7 degrees Celsius. According to the US National Safety Council (NSC), an average of 38 children die each year after being left behind in vehicles at high temperatures.

The reason, according to experts, is that a child’s body heats up three to five times faster than an adult’s.
