The perpetrator was allegedly hit by a policeman. Night of fire also in Alabama, where a man was killed by the police for trying to enter an elementary school
At least three were killed and two were injured, one of whom was serious, in a shooting in Smithsburg, in the US state of Maryland. The news was given by the sheriff’s office, specifying that the attacker, who at the moment would no longer be a threat, would have opened fire inside a manufacturing facility. The suspect later fled in a vehicle before being tracked down by police who hit him during a firefight.
The alleged attacker is now hospitalized and not life threatening while the agent, according to a local broadcaster affiliated with Nbc News, was slightly injured.
Smithsburg is a community of nearly 3,000 people located approximately 75 miles northwest of Baltimore, not far from the Maryland-Pennsylvania border.
A night of fire also in Alabama, where a man who tried to enter an elementary school was killed by the police. Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick said a “potential intruder” attempted to enter Walnut Park Elementary School, where a summer campus for 34 children was being held. All the outside doors were closed.
The person was killed after resisting and attempting to take the gun from an officer. The victim is Robert Tyler White, 32, of Bunnlevel, North Carolina. Authorities have not released details, including whether White was armed or why he might have tried to get into the school or into a patrol car. Although the officer sustained minor injuries, no students were injured and most didn’t realize something unusual had happened, Reddick said.
