A man detained in Mississippi, found guilty of murdering his ex-wife and rape of his 12-year-old stepdaughter, was executed by lethal injection. It is the first death sentence to be carried out in Mississippi since 2012. David Neal Cox, 50, said he was “worthy of death” and renounced all appeals. In 2012 Cox pleaded guilty to shooting and killing Kim Kirk Cox in May 2010 in the small town of Sherman. His stepdaughter, now 23, witnessed the execution of her stepfather.
“I want my kids to know that I love them very much and that I was once a good man,” Cox said shortly before the injection, as reported by the New York Post.
