The Dow Jones Industrial Average began the trading session on Wall Street, down 120.15 points, or 0.36 percent, to 33586.59 points.
While the benchmark “Standard & Poor’s 500” index fell 33.40 points, or 0.79 percent, to 4,195.08 points.
The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 182.05 points, or 1.43%, to 12,523.16 points.
European stock indices fell during today’s trading, in light of the decline in major markets in the region, amid fears among investors of taking strict measures from policy makers in the European Central Bank.
The European “Stoxx 600” index fell 0.2 percent by 07:20 GMT.
The declines were led by shares of chemical, automobile and technology companies, while shares of mining companies rose by 0.4 percent.
