NFL: St. Brown equals club record
Footballer Amon-Ra St. Brown has shone again for the Detroit Lions in the US professional league NFL and set an age-old club record. The German-American managed a touchdown in his sixth consecutive game across the season, St. Brown drew level with Leon Hart (1951) and Herman Moore (1994). Next week, the wide receiver will be the sole top position.
St. Brown scored two touchdowns at 36:27 against the Washington Commanders. With a 13-yard catch, the pass catcher made it 11:0 in the first quarter, and in the final phase the 22-year-old caught a ball from eleven yards to make it 35:21. Last season, St. Brown had two touchdowns in a game as a rookie.
The Lions celebrated their first win of the new season after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles (35-38). After a 22-0 lead, the hosts had to tremble again.
NFL: Season out after broken ankle for 49ers quarterback Lance
Quarterback Trey Lance broke his ankle and will be out with the San Francisco 49ers for the remainder of the season. That’s what coach Kyle Shanahan said on Sunday (local time) after the 27-7 win against the Seattle Seahawks. Jimmy Garopplo, who lost his starting spot in the summer and was down to number two, replaced Lance against Seattle and is now back as San Francisco’s starting quarterback. Lance had already injured himself in the second attack.
NFL: Raiders lose in NFL despite 20-0 halftime lead
The Las Vegas Raiders, led by Stuttgart football pro Jakob Johnson, gave up a win they thought was certain in a wild game in the NFL. Despite a 20-0 half-time lead, the Raiders lost 23:29 to the Arizona Cardinals after overtime on Sunday (local time). According to the US news agency AP, the Raiders had never before given up a 20-point lead in the National Football League. Only with the last play did the Cardinals equalize and forced overtime. A dropped ball made the difference as the Cardinals carried it into the end zone.
