Ice Hockey: Bankruptcies for Draisaitl and Stützle
Despite a good performance by ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl, the Edmonton Oilers missed their next win in the North American professional league NHL. The Canadians lost 4-3 in overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks but secured at least a point in the playoff race by equalizing 50 seconds before the end of regulation time.
Draisaitl scored a goal himself and set up the second Oilers goal. With 38 goals, the German international is now alone at the top of the top scorer list. In the scorer ranking, Draisaitl remains one point behind his teammate Connor McDavid (79), who contributed two assists against Chicago.
Young star Tim Stützle was unable to prevent another setback for the Ottawa Senators. The Canadian team lost 3-0 to the Florida Panthers and suffered their third loss in a row. For Nico Sturm and the Minnesota Wild, the 5: 4 at the Philadelphia Flyers, on the other hand, was a win after four losses in a row.
basketball: Lakers concede next bankruptcy in local duel
The Los Angeles Lakers have suffered the next sensitive defeat in the professional basketball league NBA. The team around top star LeBron James lost to local rivals Los Angeles Clippers with German national player Isaiah Hartenstein 111:132, the road to the play-offs is becoming increasingly rocky for the Lakers.
Hartenstein, who has fought for a permanent place in the rotation as a center, convinced with twelve points and a high shooting rate. The best player of the game was Clippers pro Reggie Jackson with 36 points.
Luka Doncic scored five more points for the Dallas Mavericks in a 122-113 win over Stephen Curry’s struggling Golden State Warriors. The California side have lost seven of their last nine games but remain on course for the championship round as they sit second in the Western Conference.
The same goes for Daniel Theis’ Boston Celtics, who beat the Memphis Grizzlies 120-107. Theis contributed six points.
Football: No more restrictions due to the corona pandemic
The NFL was the first major professional league in North America to say goodbye to all rules for dealing with the corona virus. Since the decision on Thursday, teams have no longer had any restrictions, no longer have to test anyone or ensure that masks are worn. Football teams only have to comply with them on their facilities if regional regulations are still in force. However, the season has been over since the Super Bowl in February and the pros are currently not seeing each other for joint training sessions with their teams anyway.
